Meta-led Instagram in an attempt to compete with Twitter is working on a new text-based app called Barcelona. This decentralized social platform would enable users to share text-based updates and do micro-blogging.

Instagram to Launch New Text-Based App Called “Barcelona”

The new platform intends to become a hot spot for content creators. Barcelona will be a decentralized platform to allow users to customize their space. Users can join in via an invite and wouldn’t require any new credentials for sign-up. However, the content will be regulated with specific community guidelines.

#Instagram is working on a new app called "Barcelona"

I wonder if it is the codename for their new text-based social network to compete with #Twitter pic.twitter.com/q8LJTc1JG7

— Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) March 28, 2023

As of now, there is no official information available on its launch date nor is it confirmed that Barcelona will be the final name of the new micro-blogging platform. According to Alessandro Paluzzi, a tech enthusiast, Barcelona might be just a “code name.”

Besides this, there is a buzz for another new feature that the social media company might be adding soon to its IG app which is to allow users to reply to other’s bios. Instagram is working on this new feature to make the platform more engaging for users. According to some users, people might soon be able to even add songs to their bio section to let others express themselves through their favorite songs.

Apart from this, content creators might soon be able to add exclusive content under the ‘Exclusive’ tab. User’s ability to reply to IG Stories with voice notes and images might also see the light of day soon. Reportedly, Instagram is also working on allowing users to share content via QR codes, and Vanish Mode for IG Story reactions is also under development.

Instagram is always adding new features like it updated the subscription feature and the brand collaboration feature to survive the tough competition it faces from Twitter and Snapchat. Instagram sees massive traffic on an everyday basis getting 3.5 billion likes and engagement on photos.

Twitter issued a DMCA infringement notice to GitHub on Friday to take down the repository that contained its proprietary source code leaked for several months. Twitter learned about the leak recently and filed a petition in the District Court of Northern California regarding the same.

GitHub has already abided by the notice and is now hunting for the perpetrator who leaked source codes under the handle of “FreeSpeechEnthusiast” mocking the Twitter head as he refers to himself as a free speech absolutist. The subpoena mandates GitHub to reveal the name, address, contact information, social media profile, and IP address of the perpetrator. The GitHub account of the perpetrator is still active.

Twitter takes down source code leaked online, hunts for downloaders

Twitter’s assistant general counsel, Julian Moore, also said that they have demanded GitHub to provide relevant information about who has accessed and downloaded the leaked codes.

Twitter’s DMCA notice to GitHub read, “Request to provide evidence of access history related to this repo.”

The leakage of Twitter’s codes might have been deliberately done at this point when Musk is already planning to open-source the algorithm of the platform to suggest tweets by March 31.

Twitter will open source all code used to recommend tweets on March 31st

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 17, 2023

A general investigation conducted at Twitter has suggested that the people responsible for the leak might be those who were fired the previous year by the company. The unauthorized public disclosure of Twitter’s codes and internal tools could lead to potential security vulnerability issues.

Twitter’s ex-head of security, Peiter Zatko, had earlier criticized Twitter’s cybersecurity provisions. He revealed illegally that the platform was subject to foreign government interferences and had weaker control over the employee’s access to sensitive data.

The micro-blogging site has been undergoing a roller-coaster ride ever since its acquisition by Musk and has a depreciated value of $20 billion; however, Musk aims to raise its value to $250 billion one day.

Microsoft has finally released the security updates for Windows 11 Snipping Tool and Windows 10 Snip & Sketch applications last night after testing them thoroughly. This will resolve the issue of Acropalypse privacy vulnerability.

The latest version released for Windows 11 Snipping Tool is 10.2008.3001.0 and for Windows 10 Snip & Sketch is 11.2302.20.0. To install the latest updates, one can visit the Microsoft Store Library.

Microsoft Released OOB Security Windows Updates for Snipping Tool Error

The Acropalypse vulnerability started impacting Windows 11 & 10 users a week ago that was creating the possibility of partially recovering edited content from a photo. This bug was detected in Google Pixel’s Markup Tool initially.

This bug was retaining the original image’s raw data even after the image was edited or cropped. Thus, Microsoft’s inbuilt tools were unable to remove the sensitive image data from the original file causing leakage of private information possibly recovered from the image raw data that the user’s intended to edit out in the first place.

For example; the below image shows some extra data after the IEND file marker in the raw data. Usually, the IEND marker denotes the end of a PNG file, so there shouldn’t be any data after that. With the help of this additional data, some cyber exploiters can recover cropped-out information such as account numbers or anything personal.

Microsoft tracked this security flaw as CVE-2023-28303 and named it “Windows Snipping Tool Information Disclosure Vulnerability” which impacted thousands of public images. VirusTotal is believed to be hosting 4,000 such affected photos.

The company classified this incident as a low-risk threat as it needs uncommon user interaction which is beyond the exploiter’s control. Also, if such images were not made public, then there wasn’t a possibility of sensitive information leakage unless the user’s device is hacked.

USA, San Francisco (AFP) — This week, Google announced that it will be releasing a conversational chatbot called Bard, setting up an AI confrontation with Microsoft, which has invested billions in the makers of ChatGPT, a very popular language program that successfully mimics human writing.

Bard is an experimental conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA. Built using our large language models and drawing on information from the web, it’s a launchpad for curiosity and can help simplify complex topics → https://t.co/fSp531xKy3 pic.twitter.com/JecHXVmt8l

— Google (@Google) February 6, 2023

The San Francisco firm OpenAI’s ChatGPT has generated a storm with its lightning-fast capacity to compose essays, poems, or code on demand, fueling widespread concerns about cheating and the potential extinction of entire professions.

Since it announced its support for OpenAI last month, Microsoft has been working to incorporate ChatGPT features into its Teams platform. Eventually, the company is also expected to modify the program for use with its Office suite and Bing search engine.

Is Bard better than ChatGPT? What is Bard based on?

It appears that the release of Bard will be somewhat little. Google is actively seeking input on Bard; whether or if it can provide more FAQ resolution than ChatGPT is yet unknown. Equally murky is Google’s description of Bard’s level of expertise.

For instance, we are aware that ChatGPT has a window of knowledge covering only the year 2021. Naturally, it’s based on LaMDA, which has been all over the media recently. Like ChatGPT and other AI bots, Bard is based on Transformer technology. Google developed the transformer and released it as open source in 2017.

Why has Google announced Bard right now?

This announcement couldn’t have come at a more crucial time. It coincides with Microsoft’s announcement that it will add ChatGPT to its Bing Search engine. As a surprise, Microsoft is holding an event tomorrow, one day before Google holds its own AI event.

Prior to this, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also shared a photo of himself with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

hello from redmond! excited for the event tomorrow pic.twitter.com/b7TUr0ti42

— Sam Altman (@sama) February 6, 2023

It begins at 23:30 IST tonight. Already this year, Microsoft has invested $10 billion in OpenAI, and with the addition of ChatGPT to Bing, the company will give Google fresh cause for concern in its main Search business.

Using the pinch gesture to zoom in on Instagram stories will make it simpler to see fine print and inspect finer elements in people’s posts. Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer, and reverse engineer, found code that allows users to zoom into their Instagram stories.

A video he posted on his Twitter profile showed that he had successfully implemented the new feature. Instagram feed photographs have always been viewable using a zoom function. A much-appreciated upgrade would be the ability to pinch to zoom within stories.

#Instagram is working on the ability to pinch to zoom on Stories pic.twitter.com/bWe5m2bPOB

— Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) February 5, 2023

Why is it helpful to zoom in on Instagram stories?

This is not your fault, but rather a general problem with stories written by some people. People who have too much time on their hands share sophisticated opinions, fitness instructors publish weekly training plans, and foodies submit lengthy recipes—all on the same screen, in extremely small language that is very difficult to understand.

Extra text in a single narrative isn’t the only issue here. Some individuals just post photos and videos to their stories, but I still have to zoom in to see finer details because of Instagram’s high compression.

When will Meta release this feature?

To be honest, this seems like a function that Instagram should have included from the get-go. For instance, the Signal app’s Stories feature has always allowed for zooming in and out. When exactly Instagram will introduce this function is unknown. Given that zoom-in on Instagram Stories appears to be in testing right now, we shouldn’t have to wait too long.

Some social media users have come forward in recent days to admit they have been experimenting with this feature. But be assured, we will let you know as soon as Meta rolls out the Instagram stories zoom functionality to all users of the app.

Instagram, a photo and video-sharing service owned by Meta, is said to be working on a paid verification system, potentially following in Twitter’s footsteps. Alessandro Paluzzi, a leaker, mobile developer, and reverse engineer, discovered references to a string of text in some code, leading him to conclude that Instagram is developing a “paid blue badge” and a new subscription product.

#Instagram is working on a subscription plan which includes the blue badge

— Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) February 2, 2023

Additionally, the developer allegedly uncovered code that alludes to a new kind of subscription, though whether or not this has anything to do with paid verification is unknown.

To gain access to the verified checkmark and Twitter’s experimental features, users must subscribe to Twitter Blue, which costs between $8 and $11 per month. It was one of Elon Musk’s first acts after acquiring control of Twitter to introduce paid verification, which improved Blue’s appeal to potential customers.

However, the launch was a flop since the corporation failed to take precautions against trolls imitating famous businesses and people.

Tips For Getting Verified On Instagram:

Complete the setup of your user profile. If your Instagram profile does not have a bio, a profile photo, and at least one post, you will not be able to obtain verification on the platform. Be public. The verification process is impossible for private accounts, plain and simple.

Avoid linking to other social networks if at all possible. Your request will not be granted if your profile includes links that allow others to follow your accounts on other social platforms.

Benefits Of Getting Verified On Instagram:

You’ve established yourself as trustworthy material. Achieving Instagram verification shows that you have been featured in multiple media outlets and that you or your company are well-known enough that others desire to imitate you or your content. While this may only be in the eyes of Instagram’s administrators, it does send a message to your current and potential followers that you’re someone who deserves attention.

Swedish entrepreneur and co-creator of the music streaming service Spotify, Daniel Ek, has created a new company called Neko Health that focuses on offering body scans enabled by artificial intelligence (AI). According to a LinkedIn post created by Neko Health, the firm was started by Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne with the goal of developing a healthcare system that promotes health maintenance via prophylactic measures and early identification.

Spotify Founder Made a Health Device

The company claims that its first health center, located in Stockholm, Sweden, can provide the Neko Body Scan and a comprehensive checkup to anyone with skin and heart problems.

According to the Zee Business, Ek and Nilsonne Neko Health, in 2018 and after the release it has raised more than $32 million in funding, mostly from Ek and his moonshot investment firm Prima Materia.

Meanwhile, Spotify reported that it now had 205 million paying customers, a 14 percent rise over the previous year. When compared to other music streaming services, Spotify now has the largest number of users in the globe.

Neko Health – A 360° Health Scanner:

In a LinkedIn post that was published this week, it was revealed that Daniel Ek, the founder of Spotify, and another individual named Hjalmar Nilsonne have invented the new body-scanning machine. This information dispelled the rumors that Ek was planning to enter the healthcare industry in the near future.

The new healthcare startup, which goes by the name Neko Health, asserts that it can accurately scan a human body and produce results in a matter of minutes with the use of AI.

Neko Health stated that they had spent the past four years conducting extensive research and developing new products with the goal of maintaining people’s health through the use of preventative measures and early detection

Since the introduction of ChatGPT and similar AI chatbots, there has been conflicting feedback. Some people think it is essential and saves them time, while others worry that it will be used to spread fake news and plagiarize others’ work.

A new AI Classifier tool has been launched by OpenAI, the creators of the popular AI bot ChatGPT and the text-to-image generator DALL-E. OpenAI released a press release that describes the Classifier’s training process, its limitations, and other relevant data. Read on for the full scoop.

Artificial Intelligence Classifier Still Has Some Issues:

Despite the fact that the new tool is designed to make our lives (and the lives of teachers and professors) easier in the realm of artificial intelligence, the firm has made it very apparent that the AI Classifier isn’t completely dependable and is prone to errors.

The classifier was found to correctly label 26% of AI-written material as “possibly AI-written” in the company’s internal tests.

Furthermore, it mistook 9% of the human content for being created by AI. It is clear that the Classifier is not perfect, despite the modest margin of error. In addition, OpenAI notes that it has low reliability for texts with fewer than 1,000 characters.

How Does OpenAI Classifier Fare in Our Testing:

We put it through its paces by having ChatGPT compose a short novel, which we then fed into the Classifier to see if it could determine that the text had been produced by one of its own artificially intelligent kin.

In a similar experiment with other literature, including Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, the AI similarly found no evidence of artificial intelligence involvement. As was previously indicated, the OpenAI Classifier ought to improve as more data is added to the system.

Described as a model capable of producing high-fidelity music from text descriptions like “a calming violin melody backed by a distorted guitar riff,” “MusicLM” is the name given by Google researchers to an artificially intelligent tool for creating music.

The paper introducing “MusicLM” was published on Thursday. “generates music at 24 kHz that remains consistent over several minutes,” as MusicLM puts it, “by treating the process of conditional music generation as a hierarchical sequence-to-sequence modeling challenge.

” Even more impressively, the AI software can create “original” music for up to 5 minutes based on language and sound inputs. The music-generating system MusicLM listened to over 2,90,000 hours of music while being taught so that it could produce well-structured songs from descriptions in any style.

AI Music and Future Possibilities:

This begs the question, to what extent will artificial intelligence improve human lives? To what extent will bots be responsible for the content we’ll be consuming in the soon-to-be-revealed Metaverse? Everything from the setting to the stories… And now, for some tunes that might be entirely computer-generated.

Considering how much music plays in the background of our daily lives, the philosophical implications of AIs being involved in the music industry are intriguing. Is a computer program capable of creating music? Is this an example of imagination at work? And if it’s something everyone’s tuned into, would people stop learning to play instruments if they’re no longer needed?

AI Music:

There’s room for two viewpoints here. Many listeners feel that AIs can’t handle the creative process in music the way humans can. The value of music is in the human element and the human experience. The counterargument is that AI can enhance the aesthetic quality of music considerably more quickly and precisely than a human can.

Now the question is, can AI be creative? Do you think it’s better? Is it attractive? Uplifting? Has artistic merit? What about classical music, by the way? Certainly, that is included as well.

Another major update to Windows 11 is coming later in 2023. While the preview build release notes have given us a fair indication of what’s in store for the next iteration of the operating system, it appears that Microsoft is hard at work on a few new and intriguing features, as evidenced by the most recent testing releases.

Microsoft is Adding the Volume Mixer to Taskbar

To quickly adjust the volume of specific programs or web browsers, just click on the volume icon to bring up the volume mixer. Only the Settings app in Windows 11 provides access to the volume mixer, which enables you to adjust the volume of all currently running programs or just one of them.

Thankfully, Microsoft is currently testing a brand new, state-of-the-art volume mixer that works just like Windows 10’s volume mixer and can be accessed straight from the taskbar. This screenshot shows how easily the level of all open apps can be adjusted, as well as how music apps like Spotify can be made louder.

This is the new volume mixer for Windows 11! Microsoft is finally catching up to third-party solutions like EarTrumpet. #Windows11 https://t.co/QzxIMIuK8n pic.twitter.com/hAqaM47mcD

You can, of course, lower the volume of one program in order to increase it in another. The goal here is to streamline Windows 10’s audio controls.

Conclusion:

In addition, on the Windows Insider Program website, Microsoft is experimenting with a new option named “AllowExperimentalFeatures” (accessible from Windows Update). When activated, this option will let customers reactivate services that have been disabled by the provider.

Finally, File Explorer in Windows 11 is receiving a new look with a XAML-based start page and tighter connectivity with Microsoft 365. According to the screenshots, there will soon be a new section called “suggested files” that would suggest appropriate Microsoft 365 programs for opening files.

The new File Explorer can show you when and with whom the file was shared, as well as show you the email threads, comments, and conversations related to the file. Microsoft’s long-term goal is to integrate its productivity suite, thus improving the File Explorer app is a means to that end.
